Based on the character Mean Machine Angel from
the Judge Dredd comics. He only has one arm, the other is a
stump. It was difficult to get a clear concept picture of him,
as over the years several different artists have drawn him,
each with their own varied style. In the end I drew my own version
which was an amalgamation of different styles. The robotic arm
is slightly upgraded from his 'traditional look'. It Is larger
than some of the comic pictures, has a couple of gun barrels
added to make him more interesting and I added a thumb - how
else would pick things up?
Its the first attempt at a game character, and it was quite
a learning process. I remodelled the face several times, finally
settling on a comic book style, and had several attempts at
UV mapping before I was happy with it. The UV maps still are
n't quite right with some distortion in places, but at least
I know why now. The best bit was painting the body texture
to look stretched and sore on his chest.
He
is rigged with an IK/FK arm, IK legs (with foot rolls) and IK
spline in his back with three control objects.
